CAN-Sim Pre-Simulation Preparation Games

Link: CAN-Sim Virtual Simulation Games (Pre-Simulation Preparation)

Description:    The Canadian Alliance of Nurse educators using Simulation (CAN-Sim) is proud to provide access to the following virtual simulation games (VSG) as part of their Pre-simulation Preparation Series.  Each game was developed by nurse educators and are based on scenario specific learning outcomes.  In preparation for in-person simulations, each game guides the user through the scenario exploring critical aspects of care.  Learning is supported through the application of knowledge and clinical decision-making.  Users receive visual and written feedback based on selected nursing actions.

Games include the following topics:
1.  Care of the elderly patient with urosepsis
2. Care of the adult experiencing diabetic ketoacidosis
3. Care of the adult experiencing respiratory distress

These short VSGs were developed by nurse educators that align with full in-person Ontario Simulation Alliance (OSA) peer-reviewed scenarios.  Additional resources provided include:
* Self-Assessment Rubric
* OSA In-Person Scenario
* Student Learning Package

Suggested Audience:  Nursing students, practicing nurses

Access:    These games were developed as part of a large research project undertaken by four Ontario university BScN programs. Please contact Jane Tyerman or Marian Luctkar-Flude for further information.
